Design and Technology
INTRODUCTION

Technology is dominant force in today’s society. Technology education helps young people to live and work in a technological world. D&T includes both design and technological studies. Presented with technological problems that are clearly stated and related to their lives, students are taught to do hands-on and exploratory design work with different materials and to apply their knowledge of “Design” and “Technology” in problem-solving activities.
Some of the characteristics of Design and Technology are listed as follows:

• It must teach skills which will be useful in the wider world of work.
• It must provide basic competence needed for technological activities.
• It emphasis learning to solve problems involving technology.
• It develops positive attitudes towards lifelong learning.
• It develops integration and application of skills across areas.
• It develops appropriate interpersonal skills and attitudes for working.
• It discovers how technology has changed the society and the workplace.
